Our Brewmaster is Steve Lonsway. Steve started brewing beer in his kitchen while a college student majoring in Science in 1990. In 1992, while enjoying a pint of Bitter in Ealing, England as a study abroad student, he decided to pursue his passion in brewing. Upon returning back to Appleton in 1993, Steve along with his Dad and brother, opened up HOMEBREW MARKET. Homebrew Market is a retail and mail order facility selling equipment and ingredients to home beer, wine, soda and mead makers.

In 1995, Steve decided to increase his brewing knowledge by attending the Siebel Institute of Brewing Technology in Chicago. Soon after that Steve found a job working for another area Brewpub as a Corporate Brewmaster. Operating two breweries for five years taught Steve that his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit could lead him to his own Brewery. As he and his father worked on a business plan to buy the local Brewpub - Adler Brau, Steve found the time to start another beer related business. In 2001 Steve founded Happy Tap. Happy Tap is a service company that specializes in the sales, installation and servicing of draft beer systems and soda systems for bars and restaurants and currently employs six people.

As a Brewmaster, Steve puts his heart and soul into every batch he makes. His accolades include over 28 brewing awards ranging from national competitions (i.e. Great American Beer Festival, North American Beer Awards, The World Beer Cup) to local tastings. Steve’s favorite styles to consume are Pale Ales and Porters.
